Representation of major religious institution in matters of religious freedom.

Achieved numerous anti-SLAPP victories in state and federal court, including dismissal of libel claims against a major university in a decision implicating the First Amendment rights of university libraries that digitize their archives.

Defense of major videogame studio in wage-and-hour class action concerning the proper overtime classification of videogame artists.


Appellate Litigation

Representation of major religious institution in matters of religious freedom.

Representation of the American Bar Association, which successfully enjoined the Federal Trade Commission from enforcing a privacy rule against attorneys.


Pro Bono Litigation

Served as counsel of record for the Anti-Defamation League, as amicus curiae, in the California Supreme Court’s In re Marriage Cases, which recognized marriage equality as a fundamental right in California. Further represented broad coalitions of amici curiae in subsequent state court challenges to Proposition 8.

Served as co-counsel, with Bet Tzedek Legal Services, in defense of indigent client against eviction in unlawful detainer action.

Publications

Co-Authored state-law chapter of PLI publication, Proskauer on Privacy.

Authored numerous articles in trade publications, including several published in the Daily Journal and Law 360.

Professional Activities and Public Service

From 2009 to 2010, Mr. Davidson served as a Justice Fellow with the offices of the San Francisco District Attorney and Los Angeles City Attorney. In that capacity, he first-chaired criminal jury and bench trials.

In 2007 and 2008, Mr. Davidson served as a Technical Advisor to the State and Local Taxation Committee of the California Bar. In 2010, he testified before the Income and Taxation Committee of the California State Assembly.
